World Fighting Championships presented an amateur event on February 8th from Reno, Nevada. Here is my play by play of the fights and the Of The Night winners.
1. Heavyweight 3x3x3 Rounds
Carlos Sanchez (3-5) vs Pavel Komarov (0-0)
RD 1: Hook by Sanchez. They clinch and Komarov gets a takedown into side control. Komarov is not really doing anything from the position. Komarov tries to get his back but Sanchez rolls and gets a guillotine for the tap.
Result: Carlos Sanchez via Tapout (Guillotine) at 1:45 of Round 1
2. Lightweight 3x3x3 Rounds
Charles Jelks (0-0) vs Nathan Loden (0-0)
RD 1: Jab by Loden. Body kick by Jelks. Jelks ducks a punch and takes him down but gets caught in a guillotine. Jelks escapes and Loden is on top. Jelks gets a kimura for the tap and may have broken Loden’s arm.
Result: Charles Jelks via Tapout (Kimura) at 1:23 of Round 1
3. Middleweight 3x3x3 Rounds
Zach Andrews (2-0) vs Jemario Mulder (2-2)
RD 1: Both are missing wild punches. Mulder lands a cross. Body kick by Andrews. Leg kick by Mulder and another. They trade some wild punches that mostly miss. Andrews shoots and gets a takedown and gets his back. They stand but he still has his back. Mulder tries to run away but Andrews hangs on.
I scored RD 1: 10-9 Andrews
RD 2: Cross by Andrews. Both fighters are swinging and missing wild strikes. Cross by Andrews. Hook by Mulder. Andrews forces a clinch and takes him down and gets his back. Andrews tries for a rear naked but Mulder escapes. Head shots by Andrews.
I scored RD 2: 10-9 Andrews
RD 3: Leg kick by Mulder. Body kick by Mulder. Hook to the body by Mulder. Leg kick by Mulder. Andrews forces a clinch on the cage. They drop down with Mulder looking for a kimura. Looks tight but Andrews is hanging in and finally escapes and gets on top in side control landing head shots.
I scored RD 3: 10-9 Mulder
My score card: 29-28 Andrews
Result: Zach Andrews via Unanimous Decision (scores not read)
4. Lightweight 3x3x3 Rounds
DeAngelo Barajas (0-0) vs Jonathan Ball (2-3-1)
RD 1: Push kick by Barajas. They clinch and Barajas takes him down but Ball lands on top and gets mount. Nice escape by Barajas and they stand. They trade punches and Ball hurts him. Front kick to the head by Ball hurts him and they drop down and Ball has his back in side control. Knees to the body by Ball. Ball stands and drops down punches.
I scored RD 1: 10-9 Ball
RD 2: Head kick by Barajas. Takedown by Ball into guard. Knees to the butt by Ball. Head shots by Ball. Ball gets side control. Barajas tries for an arm and Ball stands. Nice up kick by Barajas. Ball drops back into side control. Body shots by Ball. Barajas gets half guard. Ball’s nose is bleeding pretty bad.

RD 3: Takedown by Barajas into guard. Ball looks for a triangle and gets it mounted and lands punches till Barajas taps.
Result: Jonathan Ball via Tapout (Strikes) at 1:03 of Round 3
5. Heavyweight 3x3x3 Rounds
Maurcio Blanco (1-2) vs Matt McCrary (7-4)
They trade some light leg kicks and then clinch on the cage. Knee to the body by McCrary. They trade knees. McCrary lands a knee low stopping action. They resume and touch gloves and trade wild punches. They clinch and McCrary is working for a takedown but can’t get it. Not much action and the ref separates them. Hook by McCrary.

RD 2: Both fighters look gassed. They trade punches and McCrary forces a clinch and lands short head shots. Takedown by Blanco and he gets side control. Head shots by Blanco. Not much action. McCrary rolls but Blanco gets his back and lands head shots.

RD 3: Leg kick by McCrary. They trade leg kicks and then trade punches. McCrary forces a clinch and Blanco gets a takedown into half guard. Short head shots by Blanco. Blanco gets his back but then they stand clinched. Short head shots by McCrary. Knee to the body by McCrary.

6.Middleweight Title 3x3x3x3x3 Rounds
Cory Hall (3-1) vs Zach Bunnell (7-1)
RD 1: Hall declines to touch gloves. They trade punches and Bunnell takes him down into guard. Bunnell moves to half guard. Head shots from the bottom by Hall. Not much action. Two punches to the head by Bunnell. Bunnell gets mount and lands head shots before getting his back and a rear naked for the tap.
Result: Zach Bunnell via Tapout (Rear Naked Choke) at 2:30 of Round 1
